Botox Cosmetic is a safe and effective way to achieve youthful-looking skin. While aging skin is inevitable and nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about, a fuller look that minimizes wrinkles can help increase one’s confidence and the way they carry themselves.
Immediately after receiving a Botox Cosmetic injection, you may not see any difference in your face. In turn, this may make you question whether or not it actually worked. However, patience is vital, as Botox results can take up to 15 or more days to become visible.
The time following a Botox Cosmetic injection is especially important. Minimizing the look of aging skin and achieving a full effect is dependent on the aftercare following an injection.

Aftercare Techniques Following Botox Treatment
Avoid Touching or Rubbing the Treated Area
It’s common to want to touch the area that was injected following a Botox procedure. However, to achieve the full effect of the treatment, it’s important that you refrain from touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to the injected area for at least 24 hours. This helps prevent the spread of the Botox to other areas of the skin and also ensures it’s properly absorbed into the treated area.
Avoid Strenuous Activity
Any movement or activity that increases blood flow should be avoided for at least 24 hours following the procedure. Increasing blood flow can cause the Botox to move outside of the treated location. While partaking in your afternoon jog may seem harmless, or rearranging your living room furniture, they could be what keeps you from seeing the full results of your Botox treatment.
After your treatment, go home, put on a good Netflix series, and get cozy in your favorite chair. Staying in an upright position for at least four hours following treatment is highly recommended. This helps the Botox stay in place and keep from moving to other areas of the face so you can achieve youthful-looking skin.
Avoid Alcohol and Blood Thinners
Whether you have plans for a night out or just want to stay home with a glass of red wine, it’s best to opt-out of drinking any alcoholic drinks following your Botox treatment. Alcohol can open blood vessels which can lead to bruising in the treated area. Similarly, any medication that can thin your blood, such as Aspirin, can produce the same results. It’s best to refrain from alcohol and these types of medications for a few days following your treatment.
Don’t stress if you don’t see results for a few days following your treatment. Full results don’t even set in until 15 days or more following the procedure. Be patient with your body, understand it takes time, and contact your doctor if you have any questions or concerns.
