Dysport Treatment
Dysport Wrinkle Relaxer
Dysport, also known as abobotulinumtoxin A, is a botulinum toxin that relaxes underlying muscles when injected and stops them from contracting. It is one of the most popular wrinkle relaxers in the market for people under 65. This is another type of toxin that gives the same result as Botox or Xeomin. Your injector can assess what you are wanting corrected to achieve your desired results. At Pretty Girl, we like to rotate other toxins so often that we may ask if you want to use Xeomin or Botox on every 3rd or 4th treatment to help prevent resistance.
Dysport Uses
The treatment is mainly used for glabellar lines, more commonly known as frown lines, however it also used to relax wrinkles in other parts of the face. It is best for glabellar lines because it has less viscosity than other botulinum toxins. This less viscosity means that once the Dysport is injected in one or two spots between the eyebrows where glabellar lines appear, it spreads fast throughout the region, softening the wrinkles. This is where the injector you are going to needs to be very skilled. Less viscosity means the toxin can spread to other areas in your face. This isn’t idea if the toxin relaxes muscles in parts of your face that help to balance your facial symmetry.
The Procedure
Your Provider will determine how many injections to give you based on the number of muscles you want to be treated. The best Dysport treatment may require several injections depending on how strong the muscle contraction is. The main determining factor is usually the severity of the wrinkles. You may also need a higher dose if it is your first treatment, but the amount you need can reduce in your subsequent treatments as the muscle contracts less over time. The younger you can address the wrinkles the less difficult of a time you will have later in life dealing with them.
Dysport treatment
The injections take about 15-30 minutes with most people needing no numbing cream. We do offer a distractor device that vibrates the skin which does help if you are concerned about needle sticks. The needle itself is smaller than your hair so pain is minimal with most patients never realizing that a needle went into their skin.
To see some improvement with up to two weeks for the wrinkle to disappear. The effects of Dysport treatment can last up to 3-4 months.
